06/04 @ Asti & Gavi /Italy

Asti, region of Piedmont

Cathedral of Asti

Piazza Campo dell Palio
Usually opens flee market.  The place originally serves a function of square for people
but it had became a huge parking lot nowadays.

St. Secondo Cathedral with Piazza San Secondo

Torre Comentina
Built in around 12th century and is devoted to Giadino family, who ruled Asti

Monument of Unification of Italy
at Piazza Roma, in front of Torre Comentina

Sphere shaped hive art work in local park right next to Piazza Roma

Barricade garden, blocking influx of vehicles into pedestrians territory

Porte di Gavi
There is no testimony or records that can specify the date of construction
but is assumed around 9~10th century.
Later, it became camp for civil and also for American soldiers during WW2

View of Asti farmlands from Porte di Gavi

Local Gellatto shop, 100 years old

Some kind of business certification form
and this proves this shop really has 100 years of history and tradition

The little town where current Pope Francis's grandparents were born in
He has Italian root and recently his sister revealed that
their grandparents fled to Argentina during the Mussolini regime.

Pope Francis is a Mascot of Asti, hung proudly

Heading toward hostel in Gavi, approximately 30 minutes from Asti

Large wine industry in this regions

I have the best memory here during the trip in Italy
Cozy but large rooms and the lounge is outside and very accessible to socialize
Yeah nice to socialize but quite and very privacy protected.
Nice to stroll around the area and must check out donkey, horse
and a bunch of chickens who welcome the visitors (literally flocking to people)

Another best thing was, the hostel staffs and owners here are very cool and friendly.
I do not know if this is free or not, they have pizza self making experience program.
Also, they are almost professional classic style guitarists,
it is nice to just watch their jamming in cafeteria.
